Let’s start today’s topic with a little survey: How many times have you stumble upon a “How to create the most perfect Instagram feed” type of posts in the last 2-3 months? 10, 15, 30? How many times have you been told that your Instagram feed had to look perfect to attract followers? Now here is my last question: who says anything has to look perfect?
When it comes to capsule wardrobe, you can easily find many guidelines and rules online to help you get started. The most popular one people follow is the Project 333 created by Courtney Carver. The “rules” here are to create a capsule wardrobe with only 33 items and wear them for 3 months. It sounds pretty challenging because the 33 items include clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and jewelry. But i honestly think it can be super fun to join in on such a challenge especially if you need rules to make it work for you…
Trying to shop consciously in our capitalist world, isn’t exactly a piece of cake to be honest. Advertising is basically harassing you everywhere you go. And it’s really hard to resist to the temptation all of the time. Some days when i feel a bit down or sad, i can be easily attracted by a sale or a promotion. So to prevent me from making bad choices and have regrets, i created myself a few rules to follow regarding shopping.
One of my goals for this year is to consume way less and much more consciously. At first i was going to challenge myself to a full no-spend year but then i started analyzing what i had and realized that i was going to need to buy a few things this year. After my closet declutter i was missing a few key items like a good pair of jeans that actually fit me, a pair of open sandals for the warmer seasons and a whole new underwear set because mine were just too old and damaged.
When deciding to live a more ethical and conscious lifestyle, you can easily feel overwhelmed by the amount of things you need to change in your daily life and habits. The truth is that in our modern world, it is impossible to live an ethical life 100% of the time. So i think that when you truly decide to make changes in your life and live more accordingly to your values, it’s very important to ask yourself what’s really important to you and what compromises you are willing to make.
Happy new year friends! I hope 2018 is starting well for you and that you are making plans for a very happy year! To be honest, i personally never felt so inspired and so motivated to take on a new year. I have so many projects and things i want to learn and get involved in that i already have a feeling that this year is going to be a busy one!
Okay first things first, i want to apologize for not keeping my word on being more constant with the blog, especially for the festive season and all the related content i was hoping to create… Truth be told, i have been extremely inspired to work on my handmade shop these days, and i don’t seem to have much left inspiration for the writing part of the blog. I have the ideas but the words aren’t coming easily to me right now and it’s kinda frustrating every time i try… I also have lots of new clients for my pet sitting business and therefor not a lot of time to properly sit in front of my computer these day. But let’s be honest here, it’s financially worth it!
Now that the cold season is officially here, i know that a lot more people will say that they rather spend more time at home but for me it’s definitely a year round thing… I’m a total homebody and i have been for many many year, and it’s only now that i’m finally fully owning that part of my personally.
As someone who has the chance of working from home and alone these days (which i personally love) i have the freedom to organize and do everything the way i want them done. It’s a chance but to me it’s also a big responsibility because if things aren’t done or done wrong, it’s my fault and no one else’s. Here is a little sneak peek at how i plan and organize my work to make each day the most productive it can be!
